HALL OF FAME
P R O C E D U R E S
The New Mexico Music Educators Association recognizing the invaluable service given by
members of the profession in bringing the best in music education to young people hereby
honor that service with the establishment of the NEW MEXICO MUSIC EDUCATORS HALL
OF FAME.
Criteria and Guidelines for Nomination of
Individual Candidates:
Nomination consists of a resume of the individual's achievements and status
as a Music Educator in New Mexico Schools.
- Must be a current member of NMMEA and supportive of the philosophy and
objectives of the New Mexico Music Educators Association.
- Must have been an active music educator or administrator in music
education in a New Mexico public or private school, or institution of higher education for
twenty (20) or more years.
- Must have demonstrated an outstanding relationship with students, fellow
music educators, administrators and community.
- Must have demonstrated highest ideals and professional integrity to Music
Education, and have brought about significant events or substantive improvements in the
educational process or contributed to the betterment of the profession through exemplary
services or acts.
- Nomination to the Hall of Fame may be made posthumously.
Procedure for Nomination of Hall of Fame Candidates:
- Each NMMEA District Organization at a regular spring meeting of its membership may
nominate any NMMEA member for consideration of the award.
- Each district may nominate more than one candidate but not to exceed three (3) they feel
meets the criteria stated above.
- Each NMMEA District President will appoint a three member committee from the membership
to screen and recommend that district's candidate(s). The committee will be
responsible for forwarding the proper resume form to the candidate(s), screening the
resumes, and preparing a letter of support for each nominee. Forward six (6) copies
of the resume, six (6) copies of letters of recommendation, one photo of the nominee, and
the names and addresses of local newspapers and other media for publication purposes to
the immediate Past President no later than July 1, each year.
The Resume Must Include:
- Quality of teaching music reflected in student and organization awards;
- Identified contributions to the profession of music education;
- Identified service to NMMEA through participation at the local, district and state
organization;
- Honors and/or awards received.
